Building on the success of the 2019 Chapman conference “Quest for Sustainability of Heavily Stressed Aquifers at Regional to Global Scales” held in Valencia and the well-attended 2021 AGU annual meeting hybrid session “Prospects for Sustainability of Heavily Stressed Aquifers: Impediments and Opportunities”, we are pleased to announce SustainValencia2022, an in-person conference at the Technical University of Valencia (UPV) this coming October (6-8) with the theme “Achieving Sustainable Groundwater Management: Promising Directions and Unresolved Challenges”.
The conference will be sponsored by the UPV with support from other organizations. Those of you who have attended previous conferences at the superb UPV facilities can attest to their suitability for hosting a focused thematic conference for 100-150 participants. Valencia is easily accessible by plane with direct connection from most of the major European hubs and has an abundance of hotel rooms and alternative accommodations (Airbnb). The conference will be all day Oct. 6 and 7, and half day Oct. 8. The Valencian Community celebration and associated activities are Oct. 8 and 9, presenting an opportunity to see stunning fireworks and learn about Valencia’s rich cultural heritage.
